Mischa barton
Mischa Anne Marsden
Barton is an English born American actress best known for her role in
former Fox Television teen drama The O.C as Marissa Cooper. She was born
in London, England on January 24, 1986. Her father was an English man and
her mother from Ireland. She was hailed as one of the most talented child
actresses of the 1990s. Being an actress was not one of her childhood
dreams, it was something that happened later in her life.
When she was eight years old, Mischa and her two sisters went to a summer
camp and there she performed a monologue as part of the summer camp
activities. When every other child performed in a typical child like
manner, she impressed everyone with a stunning performance and this was
when everybody got a glimpse of her extraordinary talents. Among the
spectators there was an agent who was scouting for talent told her parents
that they had a star on their hands.

Even after this, her parents were confused if acting was an appropriate
path for their daughter. Mischa was also not interested in the beginning
but when she was in the fifth grade, she decided to try her luck on the
acting career.
Firstly she went for the audition for the lead role in Tony Kushner's play
‘Slavs’. She even got herself an acting coach for this and she trained to
develop a Russian accent, which was needed for the play. Not only did she
get the role but she also got to share the stage with future Oscar winner
Marisa Tomei.
Later she appeared in several plays produced by Off-Broadway company. She
also had a lead role in James Lapine’s twelve dreams at Lincoln center.
She made her film debut in John Duigan's Lawn Dogs (1997), a drama that
cast her as an alienated girl whose friendship with an earthy lawn boy
(Sam Rockwell) creates controversy in her exclusive neighborhood. This
movie won several awards at film festivals around the world.

The movie ‘Lawn Dogs’ was a
great start for a talented girl like Mischa. She also worked as a model
for the likes of Calvin Klein and at the same time signed several movies
like ‘The sixth sense’, ‘Notting Hill’, and ‘Lost and Delirious’. She also
appeared in several television commercials and print advertising
campaigns. Barton first appeared on television in 1996, as young Lily
Montgomery in All My Children. Two years later she starred in the film
Pups a modern re-make of Bonnie and Clyde. She guest-starred in eight
episodes of the television series ‘Once and Again’ as Jessie Sammler's
(Evan Rachel Wood's) girlfriend, Katie Singer. Other television
appearances include an episode of the FOX series Fastlane, James Blunt's
music video Goodbye My Lover, and Enrique Iglesias' music video Addicted.
But it was the Fox hit TV series The O.C. that made her a household name.
Se ended the show with the third season finale in May 2006 with the death
of her character. The ratings of the show declined dramatically after her
departure an later the whole show was cancelled. Some speculate Barton's
departure from the series may have caused the loss of interest in the
television series.
She recently signed for the endorsement of several products like Bebe
stores, Aéropostale, Dooney and Bourke, JC, Morgan de toi, Keds sneakers
etc. She also appeared in the commercial of an Australian teen magazine
‘Famous’.
Barton demonstrated her talents once more as she returned to television
with a recurring role in the critically-acclaimed ABC show ‘Once and
Again’ during its 2001-2002 season. In 2003, she acted with Madeleine
Stowe in the horror thriller, Octane.
She still attends the children’s school, but her fans and friends knows
that the amount of fame and popularity she has now does not do justice to
her real talents and they all say that there’s more where it all came
from.
